I am a graduate of Troy University with a Bachelor, Master's and Education Specialist Degree in Elementary Education. Being in the educational field since 1996, I have come to realize that it's important to have high expectations for students. Therefore, I have high as well as realistic expectations for my students.
It is important for teachers to maintain a consistent guideline for creating a successful environment for learning. It is my responsibility to provide an environment that invites, motivates, and promotes learning. I will create an environment for all students to learn, regardless of their disability.
My tutoring experience began with middle school students ranging from grades 6-8 through the Sylvan Learning Center.
It was my first time tutoring and I truly enjoyed it. It gave me such delight to see the smile on the students' faces when I was able to help them solve a math question or problem as well as helping them pronounce a word. With this being said, I look forward to becoming your tutor.
My years of teaching various grade levels ranging from Pre-K through 7th have equipped me with the knowledge to be an excellent math teacher and tutor. In addition to my years of experience, my college courses along with my student teaching helped me to become an excellent educator.
The various trainings that I have received along with my personal research related to Common Core has given me a wealth of knowledge that I can and will share with my students.
I'm an outstanding Elementary tutor because I have taught various elementary grades and subjects ranging from Pre-K to 5 grades.
The skills that make me an incredible Phonics Teacher is having taught phonics to Pre-K, 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade students.
Social Studies is one of my favorite subjects. The knowledge, professional training and experience that I have are the skills which makes me an outstanding Social Studies tutor.
Communication is the key that unlocks a wealth of knowledge. I believe in an open line of communication with my students. I expect my students to contact me with any concerns that they may have. I want my students to feel comfortable with our line of communication. Nevertheless, my students will understand that we all have different styles of learning. Finally, I will expect my students to communicate with me at least 3 times a week to enhance learning as well as scheduled lessons. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
