Hi, my name is Ethan Lowe, and I am a mechanical engineering major and computer science minor at Georgia Tech. With math being one of my passions, I have a copious amount of experience assisting others in my age group and in younger age groups through personal tutoring. I believe learning math is something everyone can understand when approached from the right angle, and I strive to fit my students' personal needs when doing so.
Throughout grade school, I always took the highest-level math available, taking all the accelerated and honors courses which allowed me to take AP Calculus AB/BC in my junior year of high school. Receiving a 5 on both sections of the exam, I was able to get into Georgia Tech’s distance math program my senior year for Linear Algebra and Multivariable Calculus. I am now a freshman at Georgia Tech and am currently finishing Differential Equations.
Helping people with math is something I’ve always had a passion for, as I feel that with the right perspective anyone can understand it. From helping my friends to relatives, it’s always a great feeling when I can help someone learn something new. As a tutor, my first course of action is to understand WHY my tutee is struggling and build the necessary concepts before trying to fully implement the concept they are struggling with. Furthermore, I strive to establish a friendly relationship with my tutees where they feel comfortable getting things wrong until they get them right and show that not understanding is part of the process of learning math. For the most part I have experience teaching high-school math, but younger age groups are not a problem for me as I have a dearth of experience working with elementary and middle schoolers through volunteer work. I also have experience tutoring through my high school’s chapter of the National Honor Society, in which we had to tutor fellow students at minimum 6 times per semester. All in all, helping people with math is not only one of my strengths, but one of my passions,
