I am an experienced university professor and academic administrator with a Ph.D. in Religion from the University of Georgia, an MBA from the University of New Orleans, and a graduate certificate in African American Studies. Since 2016, I have taught college and adult learners in courses involving religion, African religions, the African diaspora, culture, history, and critical analysis. My professional background also includes academic leadership, curriculum development, research, scholarly writing, and executive management.
I specialize in helping students improve academic writing, research, critical reading, argumentation, and organization. I can assist with essays, research papers, literature reviews, thesis development, source evaluation, textual analysis, citation practices, and presentations. I also tutor in religious studies, African American studies, African diaspora studies, ethics, history, and related humanities and social science subjects. My MBA and executive experience also allow me to support students and professionals with business writing, reports, proposals, and professional communication.
My teaching approach is rigorous, supportive, and tailored to the individual student. I begin by identifying the assignment, learning objective, or specific difficulty the student is facing. I then help the student break complex tasks into manageable steps, develop a clear argument, organize supporting evidence, and revise effectively. In addition to classroom and seminar teaching, I have extensive experience working individually with students through conferences, written feedback, research guidance, and developmental editing. My goal is not simply to help students complete one assignment, but to help them become more confident, independent readers, researchers, and writers.
