Welcome to my WyzAnt profile, and thank you for your interest! Here I have the opportunity to give you a brief overview of my academic credentials, my experience tutoring and teaching, and my overall approach as a tutor.
I have a master and doctoral degree in biomedical sciences with an extensive (six years) postdoctoral fellowship and numerous certifications in health and biomedical related disciplines. During my professional life and work, I built cultural competence related to different cultures, religions and spirituality, languages, disabilities, gender, race and age as well as skills in critical thinking and problem solving. Currently, I am a retired university professor.
I have been teaching and tutoring for over 25 years at all levels of education from elementary school to postgraduate. My specialty is one-on-one subject tutoring, but I have also worked with small groups ranging from 2-5 students to large lecture classes of 160+ undergraduates, graduates and postgraduates.
My teaching, tutoring and mentoring includes active learning techniques and methods, and I have a very interactive approach in teaching, tutoring and mentoring. Additionally, I am open and ready to help people with special needs due to their visual, hearing and balance impairment, attention deficit disorders and other mental and physical disabilities. Also, I teach braille (grade 1 and grade 2) for people in need.
