My name is Courtney, and tutoring has been one of the most rewarding parts of my 12 years in education. I have worked one-on-one with students from elementary school through college, both in person and virtually, helping them build understanding, confidence, and independence in math. Because every student learns differently, my tutoring sessions are always tailored to the individual—whether that means slowing down to strengthen foundational skills or moving efficiently through advanced material. I have supported students, from early math concepts and Algebra I to Precalculus, Calculus, and AP Calculus, and I enjoy helping students at every stage of their academic journey.
In virtual tutoring sessions, I intentionally use technology to ensure students can clearly see each step of the problem-solving process and remain fully engaged. Through shared digital workspaces, visual modeling, and interactive problem solving, students receive the same level of clarity and support they would in person. I emphasize asking questions, explaining reasoning out loud, and making connections so students truly understand the material rather than memorizing steps. My approach focuses on patience, clear explanations, and real-world connections that help math feel accessible and relevant.
My background as a classroom teacher and math department head at two different schools has strengthened my ability to diagnose misconceptions quickly and explain concepts in multiple ways until they click. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Math Education, teaching certificates in multiple states, and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership. These credentials allow me to support students not only with current assignments and test preparation, but also with long-term skill development. My goal as a tutor is not simply to help students get the right answer, but to help them develop confidence and understanding that lasts far beyond a single course.
