Welcome! I am Mr. W and I will be your favorite tutor! I have been in public education since 2018 and I'm very passionate about learning. I graduated with honors from Clayton State University in 2017. After graduating, I took and passed the GACE for Elementary I and II professionally. I've spent 8 years in various leadership positions in the school. I have been a teacher, a substitute teacher and most recently a Student Engagement Specialist. Many of my days were spent working one on one with students on increasing literacy and foundational math skills.
During our sessions, my approach will center on first learning who my students are. This means understanding their background, relationship to academia and identifying strengths and areas of improvement. Once these are determined, I will work to identify activities and strategies that are most suitable to the learning style of the student. I like to begin with lighter challenges to gauge the ability of my students. From that point, I like to gradually increase the difficulty of the material. This prevents the students from being overwhelmed and/or discouraged without keeping them in a place of stagnancy. This is not about my ability to teach, but rather my ability to help students become life-long learners. I look forward to working together very soon!
