I have a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master of Arts in Africana Studies. My academic background strengthened my skills in research, writing, reading comprehension, communication, and critical thinking. During my graduate studies, I completed coursework in research methods, qualitative analysis, media studies, social media strategies, Black feminist thought, and African American studies. These experiences helped me develop strong analytical and educational skills that I use to support students in a patient and encouraging way.
In the past, I worked with students through AmeriCorps Reading Corps, providing literacy support and educational assistance to young learners. In this role, I work one-on-one and in small group settings to help students strengthen reading fluency, comprehension, confidence, and foundational academic skills. I have experience working with elementary-aged students and understand the importance of adapting lessons to fit different learning styles, personalities, and academic needs. I focus on creating a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence.
In addition to my professional experience, I have extensive experience conducting academic research, writing papers, and analyzing complex topics through both my undergraduate and graduate education. I am especially comfortable helping students with reading, writing, study skills, social sciences, and research-based subjects. My tutoring approach is patient, organized, and student-centered. I believe every student learns differently, so I work to make lessons engaging, approachable, and tailored to each student’s goals and learning pace.
