Hello, my name is Michele! I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and a minor in Health Policy and Management. I have recently obtained my Master’s in the Sciences of Public Health. Because of my educational background in finance and public health, I have gained a deep understanding of math-related subjects, such as algebra, calculus, and statistics. This is further supported by my high school academic career at GSMST, one of the top high schools in the nation, where I achieved high grades in my coursework. However, my understanding of these subjects did not come easily. I had to really sit down and hone my skills before I had my light bulb moment. Being aware of this and the obstacles that come with this process, I now want to help bring the light bulb moment to other students!
As for my professional experience, I interned for two years at my local elementary school as an assistant for their after-school "STEMpreneurship" club. Here, I developed and carried out these lessons to 30+ students. From this experience, I have learned how to keep younger students engaged and how to best work with them to improve their learning. Aside from this, I also have experience working with high schoolers due to my volunteer work at my high school’s summer STEM program. In this program, I worked with high schoolers, sometimes one-on-one, to deepen their understanding of physics.
Throughout these experiences, I have come across many different types of students. Therefore, I have realized no student is the same. So, as a tutor, it is important to me to accommodate and customize my teaching to each student’s unique needs and help them exceed. Ultimately, I hope this individualized learning experience will aid students in developing the skills they need to excel independently.
That being said, I am always open to feedback that can make me a better tutor, so feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have!
