I am a previous Rice University Alumnus who majored in Statistics. While at Rice, I assisted in instruction of programming courses and statistics coursework. Previously, I tutored struggling students in Mathematics and Statistics.

I have worked in the Financial Technology Sector as a Data Scientist and previously did Data Science research with NASA, so I feel most qualified to tutor or answer mostly STEM subjects though I competed at the state level for public oration in the past.

I completed my Bachelors in Statistics at Rice University. This required collegiate level mathematics which piggy-backs off of Algebra constantly. I still use algebraic concepts in my personal projects, so I am required to explain those concepts as effectively as possible. I feel this is very useful in making sure you're self-sufficient in Algebra and in the long-term, learning how to pick up higher level mathematics later.

Since I was young, I've loved learning new words and their origins. This lead me to learning Latin and eventually completing in a state-level vocabulary exam and taking 1st place. English takes inspiration from many other languages but I've learned how to build the knowledge necessary to take learning to new words and correctly predicting the meaning of unknown words to the next level. I would love to pass that knowledge on.

I have worked as a Machine Learning Engineer which required learning how to query datasets. I did this at a professional level, creating dashboards for an AI team. I have learned the fundamentals of multiple SQL dialects and know how to seek the right documentation when something new is needed. Also, I've made my fair share of wrong queries, so I can teach how to debug correctly.

Excellent tutor

James is an excellent tutor who is very knowledgeable, patient, and encouraging! He has helped with algebra, precalculus, and calculus. I highly recommend him! I have learned about exponent rules, systems of equations, graphing functions, transformations, derivatives, power rule, and chain rule. He explains things very well, and has a lot of understanding/patience. He offers excellent tools and guidance as well as encouragement when you feel doubtful about your learning journey.
