Bio

Hello, I’m Paula! I am a Mathematics student at Georgia Tech, and I have three years of experience tutoring online and in person. I have helped students with math concepts and specific problems by drawing, explaining, and going through examples with them. I ask students questions to ensure that they understand the material. Then, I use analogies and pictures to help them understand. I am patient and will give encouragement when needed.

I have helped students with math concepts and specific problems by drawing, explaining, and going through examples with them. I ask students questions to ensure that they understand the material. What I love about tutoring is being able to help make learning more fun and less stressful. Easing the fear and making students open to struggling and learning more. Making them more confident in themselves and their skills. Giving them ideas to wonder about and instilling curiosity.

I’ve tutored Algebra, Precalculus, and some Probability and Statistics at a middle school and high school level. I can also tutor college-level math such as Linear Algebra, Calculus, Differential Equations, Discrete Math, Combinatorics, Real Analysis, and more. (And if you need help with something that is not listed, just ask! I might be able to help you.) I have learned a lot and made an A in all of these classes. I would love to help you do the same!

If this sounds interesting to you or if you have any questions, send me a message!

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

As a Math major, I need to be comfortable with algebra as it appears in many other areas of Math and I encounter it pretty much every day. I have also helped many students with Algebra 1 topics such as solving equations, factoring, exponents, and graphing functions. If you are looking for help with Abstract Algebra I (or Modern Algebra I), I also have experience with groups, homomorphisms, rings, and fields. It was one of my favorite subjects to learn and I'd love to help you with it!
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Calculus

Calculus

I’ve gotten A’s in my Calculus I, II, and III classes at university. I’ve helped students with differentiation, integration, its applications, series, multivariable calculus, and more. Aside from that, I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about and learning it by myself so I can help you think about the ideas behind the rules and computations in order to make them more meaningful and memorable.
Discrete Math

Discrete Math

For my Mathematics studies, I have taken classes in Proofs, Combinatorics, Graph Theory, and Probability and made an A in all of them. Thus, I can help you with logic, proofs, statements, relations, set theory, recurrence relations, counting, combinatorics, graph theory, and more. Coming from a technological school and having taken computer science courses, I am also familiar with how it relates to computer science. I also have experience with math contest questions, so I have used a lot of the techniques that I learned there.
Linear Algebra

Linear Algebra

I took two advanced classes in Linear Algebra which emphasized abstract vector spaces and proofs. Thus, I’m experienced with both the computational and proof-based parts of linear algebra. I’ve helped students solve their problems by helping them see it in a different way and connect different parts of linear algebra together. I’ve also tutored students in a class called Matrix Methods in Machine Learning, which allowed me to see how linear algebra appears in our everyday lives.

very patient and knowledgeable

Paula was very patient with me and worked through every problem with by guiding me through it instead of solving it for me. She was great at correcting things I have misunderstood and really helped me connect things together and see linear algebra in the big picture and how different sections of linear algebra is connected to each other.

Fatemah, 3 lessons with Paula

Very knowledgeable and patient

She thought me calculus and she is very good in simplifying things that I can understand. She is very knowledgeable and patient in answering many of my questions.

Mylene, 1 lesson with Paula

Prepared and knowledgeable

Paula was very helpful with my son learning multivariate calculus in college. She requests the material in advance and is prepared to explain the difficult concepts and work through the problems.

Carl , 2 lessons with Paula

Knowledgable, Patient, and Helpful tutor.

Paula answers questions well. In the problems she helped me find the center and radius of spheres, and finding a point in sphere closest to the x-y plane. I liked her as a tutor.
