Hello, I am Dr. Tolson, an experienced educator with a true passion for science! I have been teaching in the public school system for 10 years now and have had great success with my students! I enjoy using various techniques to capture the attention of students.

I began my journey in education after completing a teacher education program at Alabama State University, where I majored in Health Education. My teaching career began teaching middle school science. I have taught all branches of middle school science, including physical science, life science, and earth/space science. My students have a track record of success on standardized exams. I integrate reading strategies into instruction, which is something that many young adults struggle with. I emphasize the use of understanding the root of scientific words. I also encourage the understanding of vocabulary words.

My own educational experiences have allowed me to gain knowledge and skills in teaching diverse student populations. I prefer one-on-one tutoring and enjoy engaging with my students with fun and challenging problems. To create a personalized tutoring plan for your student, please send review materials or topics to me at least 48 hours before each scheduled session. This allows me to create a customized plan for your student and secure any additional educational supplements needed for our sessions. I strive to be as prepared as possible! Well Prepared Tutor

Courtney worked with my daughter to help her prepare for her earth science quiz. My daughter has an IEP so I really liked how Courtney incorporated images to help her understand certain concepts, included the use of videos to reteach difficult topics and taught her how to eliminate incorrect options in the multiple choice questions. My daughter felt good about the session and ended up getting a 90 on the quiz. This helped boost her confidence and made her feel that she can definitely excel in the class.
