Hello I'm Demitra and I'm so excited that you're checking out my profile.
When I was a child, I played school with my dolls and stuffed animals. I always assumed the role of the reading teacher. Each "student" was strategically positioned around the table facing me as I read them a story. I always knew that I was going to be a reading teacher but didn't even realize that I was a struggling reader. It was the ending of the 4th grade that I was told that I would have to attend summer school, to improve my reading, in order to move to the next grade level. Summer school in the midst of the hot weather and no conditioning was definitely not my idea of an exciting summer but since I loved reading, I went along with it. Following summer school, I was pulled out for reading in the 5th grade and loved my one-on-one time with my reading instructor.

Over time, I became a better reader and I want to bring the joy of reading to your child. Through my journey, as a child and an adult, I've seen students struggling to read, and with the struggle came the loss of knowing how wonderful reading really is.

Today, I teach and tutor kids struggling with reading and transform them into confident readers able to succeed in school.

As an educator, I'm required to teach my students using the Common Core standards. These standards help guide me in creating my lessons for the week, month, and school year. However, as a special education teacher, I also provide individualized instructions for my students and link them to the standards. This assures that the students are being exposed to both grade-level and instructional level materials.

Becoming a Certified Reading teacher and Writing Interventionist has opened my eyes as to why so many students are struggling readers and writers. Educating students at their instructional level is one of the most important factors in becoming successful readers, writers, and overall good students. I provide my students with a variety of research-based materials, technology features, read

Thank you so much for the positive feedback. It's great working with your son. He has such an eagerness to learn. You should have seen the huge smile he had when he was getting the answers correct. ABSOLUTELY PRICELESS!

Excellent tutor!!

Ms. Demitra is prepared, organized and uses multiple avenues to work with your child. I contacted her to assist with my sons reading. She laid out her plan and is using tools that are engaging. I am happy and my son is too! I would highly recommend her, hands down.
