During my time in the RN, in addition to qualifying for an associate degree in electrical engineering, I earned a B.Sc. Politics and Economics and an M.Sc. in Information Technology and Management.
In the RN I spent many years as an instructor and passed training courses in Train course development, Quality Assurance and teaching. In addition, to fund my M.Sc. I taught Economics and Politics at high school level to junior sailors.

Electronics, particularly digital electronics and Boolean logic, to me is an art form. An electronic schematic is like a detective novel to be deciphered and understood. Not only do I enjoy the puzzle, but can explain the nuances of the schematic to others.

The English language, and its grammar, are the building blocks of what has become the first truly global language; as such I believe it should be used concisely, consistently and correctly. My aim is to achieve this in all my work and to pass on this goal to others.

I believe economics is the principle driver for all mankind's achievements. Being able to understand how market forces work enables a person to see the how the great sweep of human history has been achieved by the want of various commodities. My passion if history, but what drives history is the human acquisitive desire. to understand history you need to understand economics.

ACT Reading

As an Engineering Manager much of my work has involved the generation of Contract Specifications for multi million dollar projects. For legal reasons the contract has to be correct, complete and concise. Hence I am something of an adept at the use of punctuation.
European History

European History

I have a B.Sc. in Politics and Economics gained at a UK university and have read widely on the subject. My passion is 20th century history and the precursor leading to the events, which took place in that century of change. These precursors include pretty much everything from the founding of Rome, through the dark ages, to the Enlightenment and Industrial Revolution.

Literature

I have a B.Sc. in Politics and Economics gained at a UK university and have read widely. I came to classic literature by the unusual route of the UK military where I served on submarines. Submarines spend a great deal of time at sea and you have to do something while not on watch. I chose to read the classics.
