I have been teaching and tutoring elementary and middle school students for the last 7 years. As a classroom teacher, I work primarily with students with language-based learning differences (like dyslexia and dysgraphia). I have a solid track record of greatly improving students' decoding skills, vocabulary acquisition, and reading comprehension.
I concentrate on Language Arts and Social Studies but can provide support in other subjects, as well as social-emotional skills development and executive functioning. Throughout my time teaching, I have worked closely with autistic students as well, and I can work with a variety of students who may be experiencing challenges in an environment with limited accommodations and support. I love helping students build confidence, track their improvement, and develop greater independence and understanding of the strategies they need to be successful.
I have a graduate degree in literacy from Lesley University. I have training in Kendore Phonics, Handwriting without Tears, 6+1 Traits Writing, Read & Write, Positive Discipline, Habits of Mind, and Framing Your Thoughts.
