My name is Logan! My journey to becoming a teacher was not the typical one. I graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2015 with my bachelors in Biochemistry. While I was there, I performed research and taught Chemistry lab. Afterwards, I went to graduate school at Emory University and acquired my doctoral (PhD) in Immunology. I then worked at Emory for two years performing public health research and teaching Biology/Biology Lab! Finally, I became a certified high school science teacher!...

I believe that one of the main, overlooked aspects of tutoring is not only teaching the content itself but also teaching study skills and note taking skills (Cornell notes, column notes, etc.) that will help with comprehension and retention. Taking notes is great and all, but if you cannot take them effectively, then all it's just a hand cramp waiting to happen! The same goes for study skills (annotation, spaced repetition, etc.) Having these skills will also assist with knowledge retention, so you will learn the content itself, as well!
As far as teaching experience, I have taught both college level (18+) and high school students (9th-11th grade). I taught chemistry and biology labs at a collegiate level, collegiate biology, and environmental science at a high school level. In the high school setting, I generally teach using STEM based concepts, generating engaging content and finding ways to relate content to real-world problems. Using these strategies makes understanding the content significantly easier, and in the end, more enjoyable!
I feel comfortable tutoring most sciences, so if you want to inquire, please feel free to reach out and I look forward to speaking to you!
