Hey there! My name is Ashley, and I am a fourth-year student at Emory University. I am currently studying towards a Bachelor's of Science in Neuroscience/Behavioral Biology, planning to apply to medical school. I am also certified as an Emergency Medical Technician and Certified Nursing Assistant with prior work experience. I have noticed how integral it is to master a foundation of topics within classes as a building block for higher education. As a pre-med/pre-health student at Emory, I have fresh knowledge of topics and access to university materials that I am more than willing to share. I have learned through personal experience that the best way to learn is through asking questions and challenging yourself to critically think about the "why" beyond mere memorization. I understand and am cognizant that each student has their individualized learning styles. That said, I aim to help other students discover personalized study habits and tips/tricks to maximize their strengths and improve on any weaknesses, academically.
As a current Peer Advisor in the Pre-Health Advising office at Emory, I avidly work with fellow students to strengthen their personal model to match their goals. I host individual appointments with students on a weekly basis and continue communication of resources/tips via email. I also work to host drop-in hours at the office to create further engagement among advisors and students. I am also a learning assistant for introductory biology at the college level. On a biweekly basis, especially prior to exam days, I host lecture review sessions guided by visual powerpoint presentations for students to utilize this learning space as a Q&A opportunity as well.
My goal is to approach tutoring with a student-facing approach, while evaluating progress and preferences on a biweekly basis. I am flexible and respond in a timely manner, while being able to cater to your desires.
