Hello everyone, I am excited to help improve students' growth and understanding of their English classes! Of course, allow me to introduce myself, I am Shannon! My passion for the flute, outdoor adventures, and creative writing inspire me the most. I graduated with honors in 2023 from my high school in Georgia. During my four years in high school, I took several Advanced Placement (AP) courses each semester and passed all my AP English exams with an exceptional score of four out of five. I am currently enrolled at Kennesaw State University to earn my bachelor’s degree in Nursing with a minor in Psychology, but I have always had a devotion to writing and music.

Throughout high school and college, I have been known to lead multiple study groups, assist in peer editing, host test-prep meetings, and help write formal documents - including resumes. I appreciate my English teachers who taught with previous essay examples, student-led discussions, and fast-paced writing sessions. My experience with these techniques will help me to assist students with their projects. This style of instruction helps encourage comprehension, consistent and quick writing, better understanding of instructions, and improvement in passage-based essays. Many of these techniques taught me how to write AP essays for high school and have provided an advantage in my college classes. I was also the section leader for the marching band flutes and would love to share my knowledge and techniques with those who are interested in improving themselves.

I understand that it can be intimidating for students to reach out for help. Even starting online can be overwhelming for some people. I want to reach out to those who are nervous about starting this path and encourage them to soar beyond their limits. Everyone has a different path to success, and we could all use help along the way. Of course, I would be honored to aid anyone in their path, so I encourage students to reach out if they have questions or want to inquire about lessons!

Flute

I have played the flute for over nine years, starting just before 2016. I remained in ensemble band throughout middle and high school and subsequently went from first chair in the beginner band in 6th grade to third chair in the advanced Wind Symphony in 12th grade. I also became section leader for my high school marching band, which I was a member of during all 4 years! I have continued playing my instrument into college and furthered my passion for marching band.
