I have focused my career path and academic pursuits on being an educator in the education field! I obtained my M.Ed from Averett University, and my EdD in Educational Leadership from Capella University. My educational philosophy is every student, every time and I realize that I haven't taught until they have learned. I have a true passion for teaching and empowering young people and mentoring my fellow colleagues as well.

I have served as an elementary and secondary teacher, licensed in GA, NC and VA, for more than 15 years. I have served as a leader in many capacities including team leader, department chair, teacher leader, and data coordinator. I have also conducted PD sessions at multiple schools; one of my favorite being training teachers to use the “Gradual Release of Responsibility” model in the classroom and while lesson planning. A few of my achievements include being nominated 2022-2023 O Trent Bonner Middle Teacher of the Year, voted OTB 2022-2023 8th Grade Superlative Teacher, OTB Leadership Team, 2021 PIE Grant Winner, 2020 Duke Energy Grant Winner, 2019 Donors Choose Grant Winner, 2020 WITN Teacher of the Week, 2020 ECU Alana Scholar Honor Society, 2023 Averett University Kappa Delta Pi National Honor Society, Sister of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., ECSU NAACP Secretary.

With a genuine and nurturing nature, combined with a professional and ambitious approach, I possess the primary skills needed in my field, including secondary education, supervising employees and analyzing data. Leadership and decision-making are part of my skill set, with proficiency in team-building, which has given me in-depth understanding and awareness of differences in both individuals and organizations.
