I just graduated from the University of North Georgia after completing my degree in English Literature, and I'm super excited about helping students in English studies! My biggest goal is to help students learn to love English the way I do. My minor is in Linguistics, meaning that I was required to take extensive courses in grammar, and I would love to be an editor someday! One of my favorite areas of Literature to study is Shakespeare! I had the opportunity to study under a Shakespearean scholar who forever changed the way I read his works, and I would love to be able to do the same for students!
I am patient and easy-going when working with students! I believe that all students learn at different paces, so I make it my goal to meet each student where they are by getting to know their individual learning styles. I think it's so important to be able to connect with students by figuring out the parts of English that they do love, because it's easy to get caught up in the hard work without remembering to have fun!
My experience includes a four-year degree in English Literature from the University of North Georgia. In that time I learned valuable writing skills and spent time learning about writing one on one with my professors. My senior Capstone project was a large research paper on William Butler Yeats and his use of Irish Folklore in his poetry, where I had the opportunity to present some of my own original research. My previous job as an intern required me to spend a lot of time proofreading and editing my superiors’ work, and during that time I helped edit a PhD dissertation. Before that I spent three years teaching at the pre-school level. I have also been teaching dance to students of ages 3-12 for 5 years, where I learned classroom management skills and gained my love for working with students one-on-one, as well as inspiring them to love learning different skills as much as I do!
