Even though I have mainly taught World Geography (emphasis on the Eastern World) and Georgia Studies, I feel I am strong in the areas government, American history, world history, and economics. I feel comfortable to help in any of the social sciences and would gather resources from other teachers as needed so I can help students improve in his/her area of need.
When it comes to tutoring students so he/she can improve in an area of need, I believe there are two ways to accomplish this mission. First, I feel it is important for students to understand who, what, why, where, when, and how that apply to each item, topic, event, or person the student needs to learn. The other half of this process is that the student can put into his/her own words the significance of the item, topic, event, or person the student needs to learn about for class. I believe that by doing this the student will apply what he/she is learning versus only regurgitating facts from a book or lecture. I am also open to learning other styles of tutoring students, so it gives me more tools to help the student improve in his/her area of need.
