Hi! My name is Gladis and I’m a Civil Engineer with a strong passion for teaching math in a clear, approachable way. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and currently work full-time as a Transportation Engineer, where I use math and problem-solving skills every day.
I’ve had hands-on experience working with students at different levels. I previously interned at two elementary schools in the Atlanta area, where I focused on mentoring second-grade students in math, helping them build confidence and strong foundational skills. During college, I also worked as a tutor for pre-calculus, supporting students through challenging concepts by breaking problems down step by step.
I am a certified Engineer-in-Training (EIT) after passing the FE exam, and I hold additional professional certifications in the state of Georgia, including erosion control plan review certification. While my professional background is technical, my tutoring approach is student-centered and patient.
What I enjoy most about tutoring is showing students that there isn’t just one way to solve a problem. I focus on helping students understand the “why” behind the math, recognize patterns, and develop their own problem-solving strategies instead of memorizing steps. My goal is to help students feel confident, capable, and less anxious when approaching math.
I believe every student can succeed with the right support, and I strive to create a positive, encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process.
