Science, Math and Spanish Tutor

I am an entomologist by training and have spent over 20 years teaching adult learners in science and basic math. I have recently started substitute teaching first grade through 12th graders. I find this challenging as well as rewarding. My background is in biology, forestry and entomology. I have two bachelor's degrees (biology and forestry from Marietta College and University of Michigan respectively) with a minor in Spanish language. My master's degree is in entomology from the University of Maine at Orono. While at university, I was a student teacher for laboratories.

I love tutoring students to help them reach their full potential or to help students get through a tough section of one or more subjects. When I was in grade school, I benefited from being tutored by a retired teacher. She helped me not only improve my grades, but learn to study more effectively. I became a more successful student as a result. It is my hope to be able to provide students with similar assistance!

My daily work is based on biology, ecology and communication. I have been an entomologist with a federal agency for 30 years. This included field studies, report writing, and analysis of insect and disease problems. I spend many hours keeping up on the latest information with regard to biology, ecology, geology, physical science as well as zoology. As a part time substitute teacher, I have updated my science and math related skills in order to work with first through twelfth grade students.
