I hold a Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Energy Engineering Technology from Thomas Edison State University, and I spent three years as a certified high school math teacher in Georgia. That classroom experience sits alongside about six years of tutoring overall, which began when I was younger through a face-to-face tutoring company and continued during my years in the classroom. Across both settings I've worked with students from elementary and middle schoolers to, most heavily, high schoolers, up through high school calculus, plus helping my own kids with math homework along the way.

My approach centers on diagnosing exactly where a student's thinking breaks down, rather than simply correcting the final answer. When a student gets a problem wrong, I walk back through their process step by step until we find the specific point where their reasoning diverged from what the problem required, and I make sure they can see that moment clearly for themselves. Once a student understands not just what they did wrong, but why their mind went that direction, the correction actually sticks, in a way that just showing the correct method rarely achieves. This comes from both classroom experience, where I had to explain the same concept several different ways until it landed for different learners, and one-on-one tutoring, where I have more room to slow down and dig into a student's specific reasoning.

What drives me to keep doing this work is a genuine care for helping students, especially those who have convinced themselves they simply are not "math people." Math anxiety and accumulated confusion often build up long before a student sits down with me, and I take real satisfaction in helping someone dismantle that block piece by piece until the subject feels manageable instead of like an obstacle. Between my teaching certification, my engineering background, and years split between classroom and one-on-one tutoring, I feel well prepared to support students from elementary math through high school calculus.
