I've been doing photography since 2007, when I bought my first "real" camera. I was baffled when I realized I had to look through the viewfinder and couldn't just see the image pop up on the back of the camera. Being in college, I decided to take a class to learn how to operate my camera, and upon figuring out that you could major in that, decided that was the path I wanted to take.

I have a Bachelor's in Fine Art - Photography. Throughout my photography career I've completed handfuls of classes at the collegiate level, spanning from darkroom and film photography, to digital photography and the art of Photoshop. During that time, I had the privilege of working as a lab monitor and assisting other students with the entire Adobe Suite (including Photoshop), printing their work, and general questions.

Having worked in many fields of photography, including commercial work, I've really been able to experience a little bit of everything and found ways to overcome each challenge thrown at me. A previous mentor of mine once said, "Photography is making something out of nothing." The more experience I get through photography, the more that holds true. Depending on the client, there's times when you walk into a situation you're going to be photographing, and it's like a puzzle. You have to figure out how to light this, what angle you want to shoot, etc. That problem solving side of things is one of the many reasons I love doing what I do.

As a tutor, I want to be able to show you how to properly use whatever equipment you have to create a piece of art that you're proud of, and understand how you accomplished that in camera. We can start slow with the basics, or help answer more specific questions for those more advanced. If you have a specific request or need that you're wanting to learn, such as off-camera flash, I'll be glad to create a lesson more geared toward that. Want to learn how to achieve a certain look in Photoshop, or speed up your editing process in Lightroom? We can tackle that as well!

I've served as a professional photographer, working with hundreds of clients over the past several years. In the commercial field, I've worked with companies such as: Anheuser-Busch, Pampers, Moe's, Panera Bread, and many others. I earned my Bachelor's of Fine Art with a concentration in Photography in 2011 from Georgia Southern University. Throughout my collegiate career, I took multitudes of classes based around Photography and even led some demonstrations on the digital side of things. Having learned Film Photography first, it really helped me to understand the camera and how it operates. This knowledge will help me to show students how to properly utilize their camera and create photos they're proud of.
