Before that, I spent a career leading and training teams: I retired from the U.S. Army as a Command Sergeant Major after decades of building instruction programs and developing leaders, then moved into private industry as a Master Black Belt driving improvement programs in Tier 1 automotive manufacturing.
My educational background includes MIT data science credentials and Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt certification, and I am the author of a published book on continuous improvement. I have taught in classroom settings, one-on-one coaching engagements, and corporate training environments, working with students ranging from college-age learners to mid-career executives. My students learn to read a question, identify the grain of the answer, and then write the query, which is the reverse of how most people start and the reason their results stop coming back wrong.

Statistics is the core of my professional work: as a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt I use hypothesis testing, regression, ANOVA, control charts, and designed experiments to determine whether a change in a business process actually did anything or whether the difference was noise. I cover the full introductory sequence — descriptive statistics, probability, discrete and continuous distributions, sampling distributions and the Central Limit Theorem, confidence intervals, one- and two-sample t-tests, proportions, chi-square, ANOVA, and simple and multiple linear regression — along with the upper-level topics that follow, including nonparametric methods, experimental design, and logistic regression. My graduate training in applied data science means I work these problems in software as well as by hand, so I can support you in Excel, R, or Python depending on what your course requires. Most students do not fail statistics because the arithmetic is hard; they fail because nobody told them how to choose the right test, so I teach you to read a problem and identify the design first — how many groups, paired or independent, what type of variable — and the procedure follows from there.
