I am currently a history major at Middle Georgia State University and plan to pursue a career in education as a middle social studies teacher. Through both my college coursework and classroom experience as a substitute teacher at Bleckley Middle School, I have developed strong skills in historical analysis, writing instruction, organization, and student engagement. My academic background has given me extensive experience with subjects such as World History, U.S. History, government, religion, and historical writing, while also helping me learn how to explain difficult concepts in a clear and approachable way.
In addition to my studies, I have experience working directly with students in classroom settings across different age groups. As a substitute teacher, I have worked with middle and high school students in both structured classroom environments and more individualized situations where students needed extra guidance or encouragement. I understand that every student learns differently, so I try to adapt my tutoring approach to fit each student’s needs. Some students benefit from discussion and storytelling, while others learn best through outlines, practice questions, study guides, or step-by-step writing support. My goal is always to help students build confidence while improving their understanding of the material.
I especially enjoy helping students with history, social studies, writing, essay organization, DBQs, and study strategies. Many students struggle not because they are incapable, but because they have not yet found an approach that works for them. I focus on making lessons engaging, relatable, and less intimidating while also teaching critical thinking and analytical skills that students can use beyond a single assignment or test. I aim to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing confidence in their academic abilities.
