As a certified Special Education teacher with over 10 years of experience, I have dedicated my career to supporting elementary students with diverse learning needs, including those with IEPs and learning differences. I hold certifications in Special Education (P–5), Early Childhood Education (P–5), and Special Education Consultative (P–12), and I have worked in both classroom and small-group settings across multiple grade levels. My experience includes teaching students from kindergarten through fifth grade in inclusive classrooms, resource settings, and one-on-one instructional environments.
Throughout my career, I have focused on helping struggling learners, particularly in reading, develop strong foundational skills and confidence. My instruction is grounded in the Science of Reading, and I use structured, research-based strategies that target phonics, fluency, and comprehension. I have implemented programs such as Fundations and Seeing Stars, and I regularly use data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction to meet individual needs. My approach is intentional, supportive, and tailored to each student’s learning style.
I believe that building confidence is just as important as building academic skills. I strive to create a positive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable taking risks and growing at their own pace. I also value strong communication with families and provide updates and strategies for use at home to support continued progress. My goal is to help each student not only improve academically but also develop the confidence they need to succeed in school and beyond.
