Hello, my name's Tanner! I graduated with my B.S. cum laude and with a 3.8 GPA in my Master's Biology Program at Jacksonville State University, AL. My interests are in the interactions between things, whether they are organisms interacting with their environment, organisms reacting to other organisms, or organisms interacting with themselves. The who, what when, where, and why of these situations lead me from studying behavior and contextual responses to studying genetics and neurodegeneration to understand the influences of nature and nurture.
My passion for education came from the opportunity to teach biology labs during my graduate studies. I spent a year learning how to effectively educate students through multiple different methods (books, presentations, scientific articles, hands-on experiments), as well as developing skills to provide less or more details about a lesson depending on a student's learning pace. Furthermore, I was able to be a resource for my students to guide them to services provided by the university, such as housing, meals, accommodations for disabilities, and mental health counseling. I strive to educate and be educated by reinforcing my own knowledge and helping someone else establish their own!
