Hi everyone! I'm Laila! I am currently studying elementary education and am at the end of my program. For some context, elementary education as a degree path is basically "teaching teachers how to teach". This means that I am currently learning how to teach elementary students. I have passed my GACE certifying exam which qualifies me to teach elementary students. I have always been passionate about teaching! My answer to the question "What do you want to be when you grow up?" was always "A teacher!".
With that said, I am super excited to gain some more experience through tutoring online! I am well versed in differentiation and extension practices so that every child gets the education they need to learn. My philosophy is that every student deserves an equitable education and it's my job to help that happen. I have experience in all subject areas but have had the most experience with elementary math. My experience in the classroom has been through whole group instruction, small groups, and one on one time. I prefer working with students one on one because I can give them my full attention for their needs. While finding time for that in the classroom is tough, tutoring outside of that can help tremendously! Encouraging students and finding what works best for them is the most important aspect of teaching for me. Every student deserves a chance to use their skills and further their understanding.
