While at Mercer, I was the recipient of the Theodore Davis Nordenhaug Memorial Scholarship for academic merit and accomplishment in Philosophy. Also while at Mercer, I served as a preceptor for remedial Algebra and filled in for preceptors in Pre-Calculus and Calculus. I have been a private tutor since freshman year of high school, tutoring from basic numeracy up to Multivariate Calculus.

I taught AP Calculus for five years, and I was named STAR teacher twice. I have also written content for a state-level mathematics competition. Especially in these summer months, I have a great amount of free time which I would love to spend assisting my students with their mathematical endeavors. Whether you are struggling with classes, trying to stay sharp over the summer, or desire to get ahead, please do not hesitate to contact me. Math can be a wonderful and beautiful thing! I would love to help you enjoy math as much as I do!

Approved Subjects

ACT Math

ACT Math

ACT Math and Pre-cal are both very important subjects. Pre-cal is especially important, as it is the foundation for so many other courses in mathematics. I have taken up through Multivariate Calculus, DIfferential Equations, and Analysis I & II, so I know how key a good understanding of pre-cal can be.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have student-taught a remedial algebra class at Mercer University.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I have been a preceptor (like a TA) for remedial algebra while at Mercer University.
Calculus

Calculus

I teach AP Calculus AB at a College Prep School. I am also a private tutor for students who have recently taken Calculus BC. I am ready to help any calculus student!
Discrete Math

Discrete Math

I have a BS in Mathematics and a BA in Philosophy. I teach math at a high school. Especially in my Geometry class last year, we focused on proof writing and logical reasoning. Often, these are the focus in Abstract Math or Discrete math courses.
Geometry

Geometry

I encourage you to look into my profile to make sure we're a good fit! Having studied geometry at the college level as well as logic, abstract algebra, and philosophy, I know how important a class like high school geometry can be. Geometry is often the first class in which a student is made to prove abstract claims rigorously, and this can be a challenge. The ancient philosopher Plato had inscribed above his academy, "Let no one ignorant of Geometry enter here." Since the very beginnings of Western Civilization, geometry has provided a gateway into realms of critical thinking as well as sophisticated logical systems and advanced mathematics.
Logic

Logic

My degrees are in math and philosophy. Logic really sits right at the intersection of these things. I've studied Logic, and I could help others understand the basics of logical principles. I often do this in my geometry class.
Philosophy

Philosophy

This past spring, I was a preceptor (like a TA) for a Political Philosophy Class and am currently writing my thesis on epistemology within the corpus of Machiavelli.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I have often helped students in pre-calculus. It is such an important subject, as it introduces so many key ideas which are important in calculus. While at Mercer, I have taken Calculus III, Differential Equations, and Analysis I & II which all involve calculus, so I know how important a solid understanding of pre-cal can be!

Outstanding tutor!!!

Preston E. is a high school math teacher by profession, and it shows in his tutoring style!!! He is patient and very thorough and precise with his instruction to both my HS boys. They are preparing for an upcoming ACT test, and his tutoring has already helped them with their approach to the problems! Looking forward to more outstanding instruction from him.
