Before becoming a teacher, I served in the United States Marine Corps as an infantry squad leader. My leadership roles required me to teach, mentor, and guide Marines, strengthening my passion for history and education. After my service, I earned my degree in History and Anthropology from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and later completed my master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of North Georgia.
I have worked with students across all high school grade levels in settings ranging from one-on-one mentoring to large classroom instruction. I specialize in integrating technology to enhance learning, leveraging digital tools to help students engage with historical content in meaningful ways. Additionally, my school participates in the Equal Opportunity Schools (EOS) program to expand AP access for underrepresented students, and I am currently pursuing a gifted endorsement to better support advanced learners.
My tutoring approach is student-centered, emphasizing historical thinking skills such as sourcing, contextualization, and argumentation. I provide targeted strategies for mastering AP-style multiple-choice questions, short-answer responses, and free-response essays, including the document-based question (DBQ). With my background in education and leadership, I am committed to helping students develop confidence, critical thinking skills, and a lasting appreciation for history.
