I have a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology and a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, along with a Master’s in Public Health focused on epidemiology. Through my coursework, I built a strong foundation in biology, human health, and understanding how to break down complex information. I’m most familiar with tutoring high school and early college students in biology, including AP Biology and general health science topics. I focus on helping students actually understand the “why” behind concepts instead of just memorizing information.
I also have experience working directly with students in an academic setting. In college, I worked as a Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leader, where I led group study sessions for undergraduate students. I helped them review material, prepare for exams, and figure out study strategies that worked for them. This was usually in small group settings, but I also worked one-on-one with students who needed extra help.
When I tutor, I try to keep things straightforward and interactive. I usually start by asking what the student is struggling with, then walk through it step by step, using examples and practice questions to make sure it sticks. I’ve worked mostly with high school and college-aged students, and I aim to create a low-pressure environment where students feel comfortable asking questions. My goal is to help students feel more confident in science and not intimidated by it.
