Hi, I'm Alexis; it's great to meet you! I graduated from the University of Central Florida with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering (2016) and later earned my M.S. in User Experience from Michigan State University (2022). Hi, I'm Alexis; it's great to meet you! I graduated from the University of Central Florida with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering (2016) and later earned my M.S. in User Experience from Michigan State University (2022). I'm a lifelong learner, so after graduating, I began studying Spanish at the Atlanta Spanish Immersion School. As of last October, I placed at B1+ overall and B2 in Reading on my Spanish placement test (Avant STAMP 4S composite 5.75).
I thoroughly enjoy learning about different cultures and find our shared experiences fascinating. Because of this, my Spanish teacher introduced me to several of her students who were learning English. I began practicing Spanish with them while they practiced English with me. Through this experience, I learned how to help Spanish speakers pronounce commonly challenging English sounds and how to guide them through differences between Non-Standard and Casual Registers (for example: "The internet has fallen" vs. "The internet went down") so they can sound more natural and confident.
My tutoring experience spans all ages, from elementary students to adults, and I primarily work one-on-one. I also have experience supporting elementary students with reading assignments in a classroom setting during my undergraduate years.
