I have tutored elementary, middle and high school students in daily afterschool programs; I have tutored college educated students toward grade improvement; and, I have served as a content creator and proofreader for adult business owners.
I understand how a person's ability to express themselves properly can impact their ability to progress in life, and to that end, I have worked with homeless adolescents to help them improve their resumes, interview and presentation skills, and even taught them in vocational wellness courses that required me to adjust to various types of learning styles and reading levels within a single classroom. I am driven to get 100% out of my students, and I give 100% of myself to that task because I love to help someone else succeed.
I earned my B.A. in English from Grambling State University, and I have been tutoring English consistently for over 15 years. In that time, I have independently taught English as a second language to native French speakers in the United States, and to native Kreyol speakers in Haiti. I have cross cultural experience due to international travel in North and South America, the Caribbean, Europe, and Africa which affords me a broad linguistic perspective and cultural sensitivity. I have a decade of experience working in journalism and radio, so I know how to create, curate, edit, and analyze written and spoken content according to a desired audience.
