I am a graduate of Spelman College and Georgia State University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Child Development and went on to complete graduate degrees in School Psychology. Since graduation, I have taught both public and private school; ESL on-line to children and adults living in Asia; and tutored elementary students in the U.S. through an online guided reading program. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Reading, Writing, and Study/Organizational Skills. I truly see helping people gain confidence and success as learners as a uniquely rewarding experience and intend to work hard to inspire each student that I work with to nurture a life-long love of learning.

I am a GA-certified K-5 elementary teacher and have successfully taught math as a public school fourth grade and kindergarten teacher. I have 17 plus years of homeschooling experience and have guided my children though elementary, middle, and high school math. My focus is on building strong math foundations in the early years that can then serve as the launching pad for later math courses in life.

I have six plus years of teaching/tutoring English online to second language learner students as far away as China, Taiwan, and Japan. I have also earned my Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) certification.

My homeschooling experience began 17 years ago. I have taught all subjects to my children when they were in the early grades and now serve as the learning coach to my middle and high school-aged children. My eldest son just graduated college with a B.S. degree in Computer Science. My second eldest son is now an Applied Physics dual degree engineering college student.

I have a love for reading and for books of all kinds. I understand the value and importance of helping young students become confident and strong readers. Phonics instruction is a huge part of this process.
