Hi, I'm Krista, and I have taught a total of twelve years in the classroom and another eight as a tutor to students varying widely in ages and skill levels. I started teaching because I have a passion for helping students struggling with their current classes as well as those preparing to achieve their future goals. My goal for all my students is that they fully realize their academic potential, finding their own passion for lifelong learning.

I received my Bachelor’s degree in History and my Master's degree in Secondary Education. As a high school social studies teacher, I taught my students how to read, understand, and interpret information with the goal of producing accurate, thoughtful, and meaningful written work.

Since leaving the classroom, I have helped students achieve their academic goals by teaching them the reading, writing, and test taking skills essential for academic success. They have learned to write effectively by supporting a topic or argument with strong evidence, organizing ideas logically, and using proper writing mechanics and grammar. They have also learned to become more efficient readers and test takers. My students have demonstrated increases in their grades and test scores and have reported having a greater understanding of the targeted content and skills. In addition, my students preparing for college Prep Exams have experienced verbal score increases of up to 60-points on the SAT and up to 8 points on the ACT.
