I have worked with students as a teacher, tutor, and mentor for almost 20 years. I work with secondary and college-level students on academic writing in a variety of academic content areas: language arts; social sciences; creative writing; and graduate-level behavioral sciences. I worked as a teacher of local students in China for five years. I have also provided support to university students whose first language is not English in organization and editing of their research papers. I love working with students coming to the US from other countries, I enjoy the cultural exchange and facilitating the development of the students’ writing skills to support them in attaining their educational goals.
I have a Ph.D. In Language and Literacy Education, area of expertise is content-based English language teaching: vocabulary acquisition; reading comprehension; content-area writing; and, academic writing.
I have extensive experience working abroad and in the US with ELL students. I emphasize developing relationships with my students in a cross-cultural educational setting and I work to understand and meet the needs of each individual student.
