Hello, my name is Emma! I specialize in tutoring college students and adult learners in programming, data analysis, and data visualization. I help my students unlock what they already know (which is more than they think!) and build new information onto that existing structure. When students see how everything fits together, it becomes easier to solve problems and find new insights.

A little about me: I hold a bachelor's degree from MIT, where I studied physics with a concentration in data science. I also hold a PhD from Georgia Tech in Quantitative Biosciences, a fancy way of saying that I applied physical and mathematical modelling to biology. I was a teaching assistant for freshman physics classes for 3+ years at MIT and Georgia Tech, so I am experienced at helping students understand difficult mathematical and physical concepts. I have also worked in industry as a data-driven researcher and as a journalist and editor, so not only am I knowledgeable in data analysis and research, but also putting it all together into a coherent package that others can read and understand.

These days, with AI tools like LLMs, data analysis and visualization is faster and more exciting than ever — if you know how to make use of the tools and understand data analysis and statistics at a high level. That's where I come in. I can help you improve your skills so that you can leverage all of your own instinct and insights to complete the best projects. And I can help from end to end — from ideating on your research project to the meat of data sourcing, analysis, and visualization to writing and presenting reports on your findings.
