Hi! I just finished my PhD in Physics at Georgia Tech. I have been a Physics Teaching Assistant at GT for many years, and was awarded "Physics Graduate Teaching Assistant of the Year" in Spring 2022, and "Physics Online Head Teaching Assistant of the Year" in Spring 2025.

During my last two years of undergrad at the College of Charleston, I tutored in the school sponsored "Math Lab", working with multiple students in many different subjects daily. In addition to the lab tutoring sessions, I also worked individually with students over the summers. As a science major at a liberal arts university where math was a general education requirement for every student, I greatly enjoyed helping both STEM and non-STEM majors comprehend and see the relevance of the problem solving tools they were learning in their classes.
When I had started my own college career wanting to major in Astrophysics, I barely placed into pre-calculus. Because my instructors supported me and made math accessible and relevant, I was able to graduate cum laude with bachelor degrees in Physics, Astrophysics, and Mathematics within four years.

During undergrad I completed: Precalculus, Linear Algebra, Calculus, Multivariable Calculus, Discrete Math (two semesters, logic, proof structures and Graph theory), two semesters of Abstract Algebra (mostly Group theory), Differential Equations, Advanced Calculus, Numerical Analysis, and Complex Variables. I have tutored almost all of these subjects. Additionally, I have completed many, many graduate level math and physics courses, and I use both math and physics everyday in my research.

Approved Subjects

Discrete Math

Discrete Math

As an undergraduate student, I completed both introductory and advanced discrete mathematics courses while pursuing a computer science minor. These courses covered logic and proof structures, sequences, graph and set theory. As a PhD student, I studied more advanced graph spectral analysis and related tensor network methods, and part of my thesis work was centered on efficient computational algorithm development which involved writing formal proofs.
Physics

Physics

I recently graduated with a PhD in Physics from Georgia Tech, having completed all of my graduate level physics coursework in Classical, Statistical, and Quantum Mechanics as well as Electromagnetism. I have 6 years of experience as a teaching assistant for introductory physics and other undergraduate physics courses at GT.
Quantum Physics

Quantum Physics

As a PhD student, I have been a Graduate Teaching Assistant for undergraduate Quantum Mechanics (both first and second semester courses) many times. My thesis research was centered around Open Quantum Systems, as well as tensor network methods for finding and evolving quantum states, so I am very familiar with Hilbert Spaces, Operator theory, numerical modeling, perturbation theory, and general quantum information theory.

Fantastic!

Elyana is a wonderful tutor. I’ve been relying on her—sometimes with too short notice from my side—to review concepts and exercise attempts for a course in numerical linear algebra. In our sessions so far she has been prompt, clearly knowledgeable, and great at explanation as well as in verifying alternative approaches. Highly recommend.

Kind and patient tutor

Elyana helped me prepare for my upcoming exam on differentiation rules. She was so well versed in the content and so helpful. She was able to explain the material to me in a way that actually made sense. Elyana was so patient with my questions and super supportive as well. I definitely recommend her!
