I'm Josh! I am a recent college graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, and a passion for enriching the learning experience of any and all students. Through my entire academic career, I have found that supplementing in-class instruction with engaging and hands-on material outside of the classroom is the most effective way for a student to grasp material and master it.

I initially consult students on the ways that they have already identified as enjoyable ways for them to learn, and I am flexible in my lesson plans so that the individual needs of any student can be met. It is this much more personalized style of teaching that gives students the confidence to succeed and the humility to ask questions that they would not be comfortable asking in a traditional classroom setting.

I have 5 years of experience tutoring students in Algebra 2 as a tutor, and began tutoring students in after school programs in high school in Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Trigonometry and Precalculus. In college I tutored students in Calculus and Statistics and became much more methodical in my tutoring approach. I offer all students a comfortable learning environment that is both low pressure and high reward, mixing the knowledge that I have mastered with a patient teaching style.

I am a Systems Engineer with 2 years experience tutoring students in Algebra 1, and 5+ years experience tutoring students in mathematics from the elementary level to linear algebra. In my own academic career I have taken every level of mathematics up to Linear Algebra, giving me insight into some of the shortcomings of classrooms and ideas for how to enrich the learning experience of students on a much more personal level. I have lesson plans that I have prepared and tweaked over the years so that the lessons can be adapted for the differing paces and starting points in teachers' syllabi.

I have tutored in Algebra 2 specifically for over 4 years, with most of my experience coming from tutoring students at the high school level. I have developed lesson plans that accommodate various classroom teaching styles and paces, with the primary focus of each lesson being student comfort and grasping of the material. I also provide students with working sets that they can practice outside of our tutoring sessions, so that they can approach mastery of topics before even having them presented in the classroom.

I have 2 years experience tutoring in Calculus (2017-2019), and have developed lessons plans that are adaptable to the varying classroom paces student's find themselves in. I tutored Discrete Math specifically for 2 years, boosting the grades and knowledge base of high school students who needed an extra push to excel in the classroom. My approach is both personable and personalized so that students feel as comfortable as possible during sessions and have their learning needs met.

I have taken up to calculus based probabilistic forecasting and have 5+ years experience tutoring students in mathematics from the elementary level to graduate level college courses.

I have three years of experience tutoring the Math portion of the SAT, and scored perfect on the Math portion myself! My approach is combining lesson plans for the various topics included on the exam (Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry), while simultaneously working through practice problems with students. This way students can have a solid basis for any question that appears, along with recognition of commonly asked questions!

I have tutored college-level statistics for over a year in an academic setting, and have a degree that puts a special emphasis on Probability and Statistics. I worked my entire senior year on running statistical analysis on IRB and HIPAA protected data, so I know both the theory and application of statistical methods that are taught in the classroom setting.

I have tutored in trigonometry for over 3 years (2014-2018) at the high school level, and have developed lesson plans to enrich the learning experience of students struggling in the classroom. My approach is to get the student familiar with trigonometric functions and thee unit circle, so that in a testing environment they do not struggle recalling countless formulas!
