In fall 2023 I accepted a high school math teaching position in the Atlanta metro area. During the school year I tutor and consult part-time evenings and nights Monday - Thursday and Sunday all day, during the summer break I tutor and consult full-time. From 2013 to 2018 I entered and completed graduate school at Clark Atlanta University and the University of Florida. Where I received masters degrees in mathematical sciences and mathematics respectively (2015/18). I also completed 2, 10-week internships at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (2014/15) as a Summer Statistics Research intern. Fall 2018 and spring 2019 I was an adjunct lecturer in the math department at UF.

I have access to online courses/modules for many subjects, so if your needs require more than tutoring or, you would like to assess your abilities before taking a test, set up an appointment. Finally, if you are taking a unique class or course of study and cannot find a tutor, do not hesitate to connect, even if the subject is advanced, I often take students on in such cases. In such cases the experience can be rewarding to see how an experienced mathematician thinks and reacts with new material!

My teaching philosophy is to give students the guidance, tools and strategies to successfully analyze and solve novel problems. This equips every student better than just repeating the same task over and over, though at times, that is necessary. This process can sometimes be slow, but the results are worth it. My end goal is for the student/professional to truly understand the material so that they are comfortable with it, experience the creativity of mathematics, and can make use of the concepts in the manner that they are acquiring the tutoring services for.

Standardized Test Professional Experience: In the past, I have taught ACT/SAT prep full time at a high school for all subjects on the tests. Additionally I have been a full-time GED instructor for all 4 subjects. I teach/tutor different standardized tests to students on an ongoing basis. Standardized Test Experience as a Student: I was a National Achievement Finalist for achieving top scores on the PSAT as a 10th grader, and then following up with comparable SAT scores. I scored a perfect 800 on the SAT II Math Subject Test. I have received top scores on the ACT, SAT, and GRE tests scoring in the 80+ percentile on all sections of the tests.

I have experience making complex manipulations using algebra on challenging standardized tests, competitive mathematic competitions, some of my advanced courses (Abstract Algebra and Analysis, for instance), and research. I've also taught Basic College Algebra 3 of the last 4 semesters at UF. I have experience teaching/tutoring Algebra 1, 2, Linear Algebra and Abstract Algebra.

Over the past 4 years I have taught Basic College Algebra, PreCalculus and Calculus I, each for at least 3 different semesters. These are the exact courses where Algebra 2 is taught and then used rigorously. The amount of time I have recently spent teaching these subjects has given me insight and knowledge into knowing the ins and outs of Algebra 2 and imparting that knowledge. I also teach/tutor Abstract and Linear Algebra.

I took Biology 1 and 2 in undergrad and graded a Biostatistics course in gradschool. I also had 2 10-week internships investigating lung cancer. I have also studied related subjects/material.
Calculus

Since arriving at UF in the Fall of 2015 I have TA-ed, Instructed and/or have been an adjunct lecturer for Calc 1 and/or Calc 2 in 6 different semesters. I have also extensively taught PreCalculus and Trigonometry in that time. Often times I find that students do not have a problem understanding the Calculus concepts, but some of the underlying math needs shoring up and I can assist with that too. I also make sure that while we certainly address the details of problems we do not lose sight of the big picture of the concepts involved in Calculus.

I passed AP Chemistry. Have tutored chemistry in recent times. Periodically I review papers in chemistry. I have plans to expand my chemistry knowledge and intend to start doing that by tutoring more chem students.

I have mentored many students through the transition of focus from calculation based mathematics to proof writing and rational argumentation. I typically have 5 or more Discrete students each semester where we cover logic (propositions, truth tables, quantifies, negation, etc.), set theory, mathematical reasoning & proof techniques (1st & 2nd principle of mathematical induction (weak & strong induction), proofs by contrapositive & contradiction, etc.), equivalence relations & functions, permutations & combinations, probability, sequences & series, number theory, recursion, inductively defined sets, graphs, trees, Graph theory. I also have a complete online course for only 100 dollars to take homeschool or self-study students through.

I competed on math teams in middle school and high school and won many awards. The types of problems were logical reasoning word problems that involved more knowledge than just standard numbers and equations. Similar in many ways to the problems encountered in elementary mathematics. I have experience teaching students of all ages for in a variety of fields, including a summer stint teaching elementary school students in South Korea.

I have taken the GRE once and scored 80+ percentile on both of the main sections. I also took the GRE math subject test. Isuccessfully entered and completed two grad schools public/private and large/small with those scores.

I have tutored, mentored and coached students through the transition into proof writing courses. I concentrate on developing their skills in interpretation of quantifiers, definitions, logical implications/propositions and their proper equivalences and negations. We discuss truth tables, Boolean Algebra, Set Theory and Number Theory to give an appropriate introduction and arena to practice logical/mathematical reasoning and rational argumentation.

Since Fall of 2015 I have been a grad student and/or Instructor at UF in the Mathematics Department. In that time, I have TA-ed and/or been an instructor for Trigonometry, PreCalc with Trig, and/or Basic College Algebra for 7 different semesters. I have also taught Calculus 1 and 2 which uses Trigonometry extensively. This gives me the knowledge to know what has been taught to students before their Trigonometry class and how Trigonometry is used in future classes.
