I am a medical student and classically trained pianist with a passion for teaching science and music. Additionally, I have a MS in Biomedical science with a focus on Neuroscience; specifically on the primary effects of chronic neural inflammation in driving neurodegenerative diseases, and the protective cognitive effects of art and music on the brain. My personal journey to this point has involved various opportunities to combine science and music both in research and in practice; and has led me to adopt a holistic approach in teaching music and science that emphasizes the connection between theory and the art of practice.
My teaching philosophy regarding science is to understand the foundational concepts rather than memorizing facts. This approach has proven to be highly successful with my students throughout college and graduate school, and may continue to do so for any future students I tutor.
My approach towards music focuses on the importance of musicality and interpretation, as well as harnessing the body's anatomy and natural range of motion and balance to refine piano techniques so as to play fluidly and with ease.
I hope these approaches are as appealing to potential students as they have proven to be successful, and I sincerely look forward to guiding students through them!
