Hello learners! I'm a software engineer with degrees in physics (Harvard University) and computer science (Columbia University). I'm also a published technical writer and a logophile (and the 2023 winner of the Atlanta Orthographic Meet). Hello learners! I'm a software engineer with degrees in physics (Harvard University) and computer science (Columbia University). I'm also a published technical writer and a logophile (and the 2023 winner of the Atlanta Orthographic Meet). About me: I graduated Harvard with a Bachelor’s degree in Physics in 2003, worked in the reliability engineering / risk management field for several years, and then took a brief detour to teach English to some adorable, brilliant, and extremely loud children in Seoul, Korea. On my return to the states I spent a year tutoring high school physics and biology while catching up on computer science prerequisites, then enrolled in a master’s degree program at Columbia, where I did additional tutoring in computer science and served as as teaching assistant in two classes. After two fantastic years in New York City I moved upstate and worked for the Air Force Research Laboratory for another four years. I recently decided to check out Chicago and try full-time software development. (So far so good!)
What I teach: Over the years I’ve tutored or taught English, physics, math, biology, computer science, and SAT prep. I specialize in programming and computer science, obviously, but I love helping students improve their writing! I’m actually better at writing English than code, but code pays better :)
