I have 6 years of tutoring experience. I have participated in outreach programs offered by my University to tutor intercity students in Math and Science. I have led study groups at my University in the following courses: General Biology, Circuits, and Java. My tutoring style is to focus on understanding concepts intuitively, learning by solving problems, and being systematic in solving problems.

I have a broad background and have excelled in numerous Math, Engineering, and Science courses. In Math, I have taken Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Finite Elements. I have done well in courses such as General Biology, Statistics, Mechanics, and Data-Structures/Algorithms. I have a passion for Science and given my background in Engineering, I try my best to constantly learn and understand scientific concepts in detail.

Approved Subjects

C

C

In my Data structures and Algorithm course, I have to use C language in many of my assignments; in particular I used pointers to create many types of data structures such as linked lists, queues, and doubly linked lists. Currently, I am enrolled as a graduate student in Computer Science; where I will have to use C in many of my assignments.
Computer Science

Computer Science

I am a first year graduate student in CS. I have taken and done really well in the following courses in my undergraduate: Introduction to MATLAB programming, Introduction to Object Oriented Programming, and Data-structures and Algorithm. Currently, I am taking the following courses: Software Development and Computer Vision. I have close to 5 years experience in programming and explaining code to my classmates, colleagues, and supervisors.
Differential Equations

Differential Equations

I have taken a Differential Equation course in College and DFQs are prevalent in Engineering. Therefore, I have had a great deal of experience in solving DFQs, both using traditional mathematics and Fourier/Laplace mathematics. I have led study groups in my Circuits and Signals courses which required a lot of DFQ mathematics.
Electrical Engineering

Electrical Engineering

I am qualified to tutor in this subject because I have a Bachelors of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering that has required me to take many Electrical Engineering courses such as Circuits, Signals and Systems, Fourier Math, and Discrete math. I have led study groups in my undergrad in Circuits and Signals and Systems courses. Currently, I am a graduate student in Computer Science and there are many overlaps between ECE and CS.
Finite Math

Finite Math

I took a Finite Element Analysis graduate course the senior year of my undergraduate. I received an A in this course and the instructor can speak highly of me in my participation in the course. In my research experience, I have had to use Finite Element software/math for building models of the cornea and lamina cribrosa. I know how to use FE softwares such as FEBio and Abaqus.
Genetics

Genetics

I took a Genetics course in my undergrad, which I received an A on. I was offered to TA this course but did not take the offer due to scheduling conflicts. I was always able to explain difficult concepts to my friends who needed some extra help on certain concepts.
Hindi

Hindi

My mom is from India and therefore I have picked up learning to speak Hindi. I can communicate well with Hindi speakers at an intermediate level. I can speak 3 other languages and have a passion for learning languages. I promote a fun and interactive way to learn a language through real life one-on-one practice.
Linear Algebra

Linear Algebra

I have taken a Linear Algebra course in College (received an A-) and have had to use many Linear Algebra concepts in many of my Engineering courses, such as Fourier Math, Finite Element Analysis, and Computer Vision. I am currently enrolled in Computer Vision and therefore am using Linear Algebra extensively in my assignments. Moreover, in my research experience, I have had to use a lot of Matlab and Image processing that has required me to use Linear Algebra. I would like to add, this is one of my favorite Math topics.
MATLAB

MATLAB

I have been using MATLAB to code for close to 5 years. I have had to extensively use it in my research work and throughout my undergraduate engineering courses. I have had to explain my MATLAB code/programming to various audiences; my fellow classmates, my Principal Investigator, and Colleagues.
Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering

As a Biomedical Engineer who has worked in research involving studying the bio-mechanics of soft tissue such as the cornea and lamina cribrosa; I have had to use many mechanical engineering concepts in my work. I have taken Statics, Dynamics, and Finite Element courses. I can explain basic statics in an intuitive and clear way using real life examples.
Political Science

Political Science

I did a minor in International Relations in my undergraduate. I took the following courses: Introduction to International Relations , Contemporary Politics, Game Theory, and Advanced International Relations. I received an A or A- on all my courses. I also excelled in High School history courses; passed my AP American History exam, and got close to 100% on all my regents exam.
Python

Python

I am a graduate student in Computer Science and have had to extensively use Python in my courses, specifically mathematical packages in Python such as scipy, numpy, and OpenCV. I have also used Python extensively in my web development courses. Plus, it is one of my favorite computer languages.
Social Studies

Social Studies

I did a minor in International Relations in my undergraduate. I took the following courses: Introduction to International Relations , Contemporary Politics, Game Theory, and Advanced International Relations. I received an A or A- on all my courses. I also excelled in High School history courses; passed my AP American History exam, and got close to 100% on all my history based regents exam.

Rafique is very knowledgeable and patient.

He taught my son some Matlab techniques and helped debug some code. I would recommend him highly. He also did follow-up to make sure that approach was on track. When he hit something he wasn't sure about, he wanted it verified with instructor.

Well spoken and clear to the point

Rafique was excellent. Well prepared, knowledgeable, well spoken, directly addressed the issues without deviations. Adaptable to the changing needs and broadside to explain the bigger underlying concepts

Jim, 2 lessons with Rafique

Knowledgeable, patient, and very good communicator.

Rafique demonstrated clear, concise communication skills. I have impaired hearing which is challenging when a person mumbles or speaks too fast. Not a problem with Rafique. I came to the session with a specific list of items that I wanted to go over. We completed my list and he offered information that I had not considered. I am looking forward to our next session.

Excellent Tutor

Rafique was able to "break down" the overview of binary numbers for my son to understand. He left feeling very confident in his understanding of the lesson! Looking forward to the next session.

Excellent tutor

Needed a last minute tutor for help with Java. He was very helpful and knowledgeable. He helped my son with an assignment he was lost on without being able to review the material before hand. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Samantha , 1 lesson with Rafique

Very detailed, thorough approach. Intuitive teaching style.

Rafique is very personable in his approach. He was able to quickly identify my son's strengths and areas needing improvement. Rafique recognized the disconnect, and immediately simplified the problems so my son could clearly understand. Without question, I anticipate improvement in his grades exponentially.
