I am a certified Georgia educator with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, a master’s degree in Criminal Justice, and a T5 teaching certificate. I am also pursuing an Educational Leadership certification. My educational background helps me explain concepts clearly, recognize different learning needs, and build students’ confidence. My strongest tutoring areas include U.S. history, social studies, reading comprehension, academic writing, and study skills.
My classroom teaching experience includes U.S. History, AP U.S. History, AP World History, and Geography at the high school level. I have worked with students who need substantial academic support as well as students preparing for advanced coursework. Alongside whole-class instruction, I provide individual and small-group support to help students understand challenging material, interpret historical documents, organize their ideas, and develop evidence-based responses.
My approach begins with identifying what a student understands and where confusion starts. I break complex concepts into manageable steps, model the thinking process, and provide guided practice before asking students to work independently. I use visuals, real-world connections, targeted questions, and retrieval practice to make learning meaningful and strengthen retention. For reading and writing, I emphasize identifying main ideas, understanding vocabulary in context, selecting relevant evidence, and explaining reasoning. My goal is to create a patient, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and develop skills they can use independently.
