I am currently a student at Spelman College studying Political Science and Philosophy on the Pre-Law track. A large part of my academic experience has focused on writing, reading, public speaking, and learning how to communicate ideas clearly. At Spelman, I am continuing to build my college-level writing and research skills, and I have become especially interested in helping other students become more confident in their own writing and communication.
I have several years of experience helping other students through Mock Trial, where I served as a team captain and helped students prepare arguments, practice speeches, organize their thoughts, and become more comfortable speaking in front of others. I also have experience giving speeches and presentations to large audiences, including delivering a keynote speech to more than 2,000 students, educators, and activists. Through these experiences, I have learned how to break down complicated ideas, give useful feedback, and adjust how I explain something depending on the student.
I would be most comfortable tutoring English, writing, history, social studies, public speaking, and essay writing. I especially enjoy helping students figure out what they want to say, organize their ideas, strengthen their arguments, and make their writing sound like their own voice. My goal is to make students feel more confident rather than simply giving them the answer.
