I graduated summa cum laude from Sewanee: The University of the South with degrees in Environmental Studies: Ecology and Biodiversity and Theater Arts. I am a proud member of Phi Beta Kappa (the oldest and most respected academic honors society in the United States - top 10% of a university's graduating class). I have been working as a tutor and teacher for over 15 years and am passionate about bringing material to life.

I have been working as a tutor and teacher for over 15 years and am passionate about bringing material to life.

I work with students ranging from kindergarten to college level and specialize test prep for the SAT, ACT, ISEE, SSAT, and HSPT, as well as academic subjects including, but not limited to pre-Algebra, Algebra I and II, geometry, biology, AP Biology, AP Human Geography, AP Environmental Science, all levels of elementary and middle school science/math, English, history, reading comprehension and fluency skills, building vocabulary, organizational skills, college essay writing, and general homework support.

I am engaging and upbeat when helping students prepare for lower, middle, high school, and college admissions exams. With a systematic approach, we will work through the content, test-taking strategies, and time management skills that lead to increased confidence and success.

I use the Socratic Method to help students discover the material and provide notes as needed. For math, I model step-by-step work and then switch into a coaching role, catching errors before they become habits. For all subjects, I use discussion based learning to help students engage and deeply understand the material. I love discovering and developing new strategies to help students reach their goals, while making the learning process both memorable and fun.

Algebra is the backbone of all high school and college math, so mastering pre-Algebra and Algebra concepts is key for success and increased confidence.

As an Ecology and Biodiversity major, I have a deep mastery and understanding of biology concepts. I have been tutoring biology since 2011 and know how to break down complex information into relatable analogies, acronyms, and bite-sized pieces.

Since 2011, I've worked with over 100 students who sought Geometry tutoring for class and/or admissions exams like the SSAT, HSPT, ISEE, SAT, and ACT. Understanding Geometry builds logical thinking and spatial reasoning, which not only leads to success and confidence in class, but also in future careers like building, engineering, and design.

I started tutoring the Lower, Middle, and Upper ISEE in 2012 at Archimedes Academics in Los Angeles. I have worked with over 100 ISEE students and helped them reach their goal scores by breaking down the question types in each section and teaching the test-taking strategies and techniques that go with them. My students have gained admission to elite private high schools like Flintridge Prep, Harvard-Westlake, Oakwood, and Campbell Hall. My goal is to help students increase their starting scores. I've helped students move their scores from below average (stanine scores of 1-3) to average (stanine scores of 4-6) or above average (stanine scores of 7-9). Most schools are looking for stanine scores of 6+ and I'm always going to work toward a mix of 6s, 7s, and 8s.
