Hi! My name is Micah V. I recently graduated from Duke University with a degree in Biomedical Engineering and a minor in chemistry. I'm highly passionate about the sciences, which is why I am currently in the Bioengineering PhD program at Georgia Tech, where I am working on synthetic biology and cellular engineering. I have worked in 3 different laboratories - including work on DNA synthesis, neuropharmacology, and RNA engineering - and many courses in the sciences and engineering. In my teaching, I attempt to emphasize conceptual understanding over memorization, as I believe this is the best way to learn.
The professors and teachers I've had throughout my undergraduate and high school journey have shaped my passion for my field and for learning in general, and I am beyond excited to provide similar mentorship to students. I tutored an NCSSM student in multivariable calculus for a semester, an AP calculus student who needed help preparing for the AP exam, and I have made several YouTube videos on biological topics, including gene transcription and the molecular biology of proteins.
I specialize in math and biology, and I'm also happy to help with scientific writing and lab report communication.
