Hey, my name is Nathan Chou!

I’m a Georgia Tech student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with concentrations in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Systems. With over four years of tutoring experience, I’ve worked with students in SAT prep, K–12 math and science, music, and college counseling.

My tutoring style is personalized, engaging, and student-focused. I recognize that every student learns differently, so I tailor each session to their learning style, goals, and interests. My goal is not only to help students understand the material, but also to build their confidence and help them recognize their own potential. I strive to be more than just a tutor—I want to be someone students feel comfortable learning with and talking to.

I was accepted to selective universities including UCLA, Emory, and the University of Maryland, College Park, and have helped students gain admission to schools such as Cornell, UPenn, and Yale. I scored a 1540 on the SAT (780 Math, 760 EBRW) and earned 5s and 4s on all 13 of my AP exams.

Outside of academics, I’ve conducted research, interned at technology and healthcare companies, and led a software team in Georgia Tech’s rocketry club. These experiences have strengthened my ability to communicate complex ideas, solve problems creatively, and help students reach their goals.

Approved Subjects

Calculus

Calculus

I earned a score of 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam and completed advanced coursework in Multivariable Calculus, Differential Equations, and Linear Algebra. As a Computer Science student at Georgia Tech and a Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society member, I have extensive experience tutoring students across single- and multivariable calculus topics. My instruction emphasizes deep conceptual understanding of core principles—such as limits, derivatives, integration techniques, and series—rather than rote memorization. I help students build strong analytical intuition and master high-yield AP test strategies to tackle complex free-response and multiple-choice questions with speed and precision.
Computer Science

Computer Science

I am a Computer Science major at the Georgia Institute of Technology with extensive hands-on experience in software engineering, machine learning, and full-stack development. My professional background includes engineering cloud authentication workflows as a Software Engineering Intern at Inmar Intelligence and training deep learning segmentation models at the National Institutes of Health. I bring a strong record of academic and competitive success, having scored 5s on AP Computer Science exams, won collegiate coding competitions, and tutored students in programming fundamentals and AP coursework. My tutoring focuses on demystifying core data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design so students can build both problem-solving intuition and practical coding skills
Elementary (K-6th)

Elementary (K-6th)

I have direct experience instructing elementary school students in foundational STEM, introductory coding, robotics, and hands-on arts through the Chinese Culture and Community Service Center Summer Academy. Beyond camp instruction, I have mentored and tutored younger students across music, academics, and community youth programs, developing strong classroom management and individualized communication skills. My teaching approach emphasizes patience, positive reinforcement, and breaking down early math, reading, and science concepts into engaging, digestible lessons. I focus on fostering curiosity and building foundational confidence to ensure young learners feel excited and supported in their education.
Linear Algebra

Linear Algebra

I have mastered linear algebra through advanced coursework in both high school and college, consistently earning top "A" grades. My expertise spans core curriculum topics, including systems of linear equations, matrix inverses, vector subspaces, orthogonal projections, and eigen-decomposition. I specialize in breaking down abstract vector space concepts into clear, intuitive step-by-step methods that simplify problem-solving. Whether you are preparing for exams, tackling computational homework, or learning proofs, I tailor each lesson to build your confidence and mastery.
Piano

Piano

I have studied classical piano for over twelve years under Dr. Huai-En Tsai, culminating in a featured solo performance at Carnegie Hall. I am a first-prize winner of the international Orbifold Global Music Competition and have earned top honors in events such as the Elite International Music Competition and the Maryland State Solo Piano Festival. In addition to masterclass training with distinguished collegiate faculty, I bring extensive experience tutoring piano students and leading music initiatives as Co-President of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. My instruction focuses on developing solid technical foundations, sight-reading proficiency, and authentic musical expression tailored to each student's goals.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I achieved a 790 on the SAT Math section and bring a strong quantitative foundation supported by a 5 on AP Calculus BC and advanced coursework in Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra. As a Computer Science student at Georgia Tech and a Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society member, I have extensive experience tutoring students and breaking down challenging mathematical concepts into clear, intuitive steps. My instruction targets essential content areas—including algebra, advanced functions, and geometry—while teaching high-leverage test strategies such as time management, trap-avoidance, and efficient problem setup. I work closely with students to diagnose specific gaps, refine their problem-solving speed, and build the confidence necessary to achieve top percentile scores.
