I earned a BA in Linguistics from Carleton College in 2018 and a BS in Computer Science from Georgia State University in 2026. I graduated at the top of my class in both institutions, graduating cum laude from Carleton and summa cum laude from GSU. I earned a BA in Linguistics from Carleton College in 2018 and a BS in Computer Science from Georgia State University in 2026. I graduated at the top of my class in both institutions, graduating cum laude from Carleton and summa cum laude from GSU. While at GSU, I took a course load heavy with math and science classes: Chemistry 1, Chemistry 2, Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Linear Algebra, Discrete Math, Probability and Statistics, Calc-based Physics 1, Data Science, and Machine Learning, earning A’s and A+’s in all.
I also have a passion for and background in education and teaching. During my first undergraduate degree at Carleton College, I worked for two years as a TA for the Linguistics department and taught a PE dance class for four years. After Carleton, I taught English abroad for a year in Kagoshima, Japan, and then spent about a year teaching upper and lower elementary students at a Montessori school. Between those experiences, I've taught students ranging from young children to college-age peers, in settings ranging from full classrooms to small groups to one-on-one, so I'm comfortable adjusting my approach to whoever is in front of me.
I like to teach by working through problems collaboratively, referencing my experience in Montessori classrooms. I start with asking questions to gauge a student’s understanding and reasoning then will act as a guide through the materials and problems, rather than lecturing or supplying answers. Challenging or new material is received best when presented with patience, curiosity, and kindness, and I model my teaching pedagogy after such ideals.
